The business community of Sialkot has decided to adopt 500 families of quake-stricken areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP, said president Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Dr Nouman Idris Butt.
Talking to reporters on Monday here he further revealed that articles of daily use, medicines, blankets, tents, tin sheets and jackets amounting to Rs 60 million had already been dispatched by the SCCI to quake-hit areas of the country.
Apart from this, the local businessmen would also take active part in the construction of houses for providing shelter to the affected families, he said.
Dr Nouman Butt disclosed that the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry had already established a 200-bed hospital for providing timely treatment to the affected people of Balakot and other adjoining areas.
