Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) would establish gems trade market shortly for promotion of precious and semi- precious stones in the frontier province, said EPZA Chairperson Rukhsana Salim here on Monday.
A separate area would be allocated for the 'Gems and Gemological Institute' in the proposed market.
She said this during her call on meeting with All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) Chairman Faqir Hussain and other office bearers of the association.
On this occasion, APCEA Chairman Faqir Hussain told her about future prospects of gems' trade in the province and underscored the need for setting up trade market for encouraging business community and enhancing gems trade activities.
He said gems trade was a great contributor to the commercial development of country and urged upon concerned authorities to safeguard the rights of traders.
Talking on the occasion, Rukhsana Salim said the efforts were being taken to tap gems potential of the province and announced setting up of the market.
She said the jobs would be provided to those skilled in cutting and polishing of the precious and semi precious stones.
