A notorious dacoit and proclaimed offender Nehao, involved in several cases of robbery, was killed in a police encounter here at Ahmadpur Sharqia tehsil on Monday while A citizen was injured due to the firing of the accused.
Ahmadpur Sharqia DSP Mian Irfan told newsmen that the police encounter ensued with the arrival of police at a time, when accused Nehao, allegedly involved in more than 30 cases of robbery and murder with his three accomplices, was fleeing after snatching Rs 1,00,000 at gun point from Wahid Bakhsh oil agency in Widhnor area of Naushehra Jadid police station (in Bahawalpur district) and the area people had started chasing them.
The accused fired on the citizens and the police, when Nehao got killed in counter-firing and a civilian Nabi Bakhsh was injured by the firing of the accused, who was later admitted to a hospital. However, the two accomplices of the accused managed to flee from the scene.
