PML-N leadership has appointed Mian Marghoob Ahmad as PML-N President Lahore who has been attached with the party for the last 18 years. PML-N General Secretary Zaeem Qadri disclosed this during a press conference here on Monday.
While reading the messages of PML-N top leaders Nawaz Shairf, Shabaz Sharif and Zulfiqar Ali Khosa, he said that Mian Marghoob was expected to work for the restoration of democracy, supremacy of law and stabilisation of institutions. "Nawaz Sharif was standing firm on his principle stand of restoration of true democracy and there would be no backdoor diplomacy," he added.
On the issue of construction of new dams, he said that the matter should be decided after developing national consensus. He was of the view that feasibility on the Kalabagh Dam has become outdated since it was prepared 15 years ago and many changes have taken places since then, hence it would be appropriate to prepare a fresh feasibility report. "It was a habit of dictators to divide nations on lingual and geographical lines and only stable political democracy creates solidarity among the people. We were clear on not accepting Pervez Musharraf as President or the Chief of the Army Staff," he added.
Mian Marghoob said on the occasion that he would strive to make the party more effective in the provincial metropolis. He thanked the party leadership for posing confidence in him for leading the party in the city.
