Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Board of Directors has approved a project for laying of 16" dia 62.5-km pipeline between Hattar and Abbotabad at a total cost of Rs 701.783 million, which will alleviate problems faced by industrial and domestic consumers there.
The project has been submitted to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) for their approval, a spokesman of SNGPL said on Wednesday. The project will be completed in two phases: First phase will involve pipeline up to Havalian while in 2nd phase the line will be completed up to Abbotabad.
This pipeline will enhance the system capacity of Hattar and Abbotabad segment from 34 mmcfd to 94 mmcfd. The enhanced pressure capacity will provide gas to industrial unit and meet the domestic demand at Abbotabad and Mansehra segments.
According to SNGPL, the gas demand of Wah and Mansehra segment has increased on account of establishment of industrial base at Hattar and increase in population in Abbotabad and Mansehra. The system had been augmented in 2004, however, low-pressure problems at Abbotabad and Mansehra were encountered during peak winter season.
