Seven earthquake survivors including four children died from severe burns after their tent was set ablaze by a candle in northern Pakistan, police said on Wednesday.
The victims of the fire on Tuesday in the village of Banser, some 100 kilometres north of Islamabad, were all from the same family, police officer Muhammad Nadeem told AFP.
Four of them died instantly and the other three succumbed to their injuries at a German field hospital on Wednesday morning, he said. The dead included four children, two women and a man, Nadeem added. Aid officials are racing against time to provide tents to survivors to save them from the looming Himalayan winter.
