The district Nazim Kanwar Naveed has announced that to restore the fractured civic infrastructure is the priority of the district government and work on priority agenda is in progress.
Speaking at a reception arranged in his honour by the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry he said establishment of new industrial estate, a five star hotel and restoration of air service at Hyderabad were also part of priority agenda of district government.
He said the objective of establishing new industrial estate was to provide maximum facilities to investors so that employment opportunity could be generated to minimise the unemployment ratio is also at the top of district government's agenda to boost up economic activities which will lead to generate employment opportunity to the people.
He said that besides provision of basic facilities, poverty and unemployment was the main problem of this district, which could be resolved by accelerating the pace of economic activities.
He said that industrialists, investors and business community could play a vital role in accelerating the pace of economic activities in the district. He said there is great potential in development of agro-based industries as raw material and labour would be available in abundance. He said the agro-based industries would help improve the rural economy and improve purchasing power of the people, which is essential for the survivor of industries in the district.
Referring the civic problems pointed out by acting president in his welcome address, the district Nazim said that many problems were being experienced by the people of this city which have been accumulated due negligence of concerned organisations and ignorance of successive government. However, he made it clear that district government has determined to resolve all these problems under a phased programme. He said that shifting of cattle pens, subzi mandi, slaughter houses, LPG filling points, heavy and good transport outside the city, removal of encroachments, streamlining of traffic system, has already been started by district government, however he said that special care was being taken to minimise the loss of concerned people.
He appealed the members of HCCI to provide their full support during implementation of cleanliness drive, because there may be some people belonging to their community who could be affected but they have to sacrifice in the interest of city and citizen. He said that in addition to cleanliness drives, billion of rupees were being spent to revamp the old and deteriorated water supply and sewerage system. He informed that besides increasing capacity of present filter plant, four new filter plants would be established to provide potable water facilities to the people. He said a scheme to construct road on right bank of Akram Wah with two additional bridges over Akram Wah and Phuleli canals was also under consideration to provide easy approach to new subzi mandi and to reduce the traffic pressure specially when sabzi mandi be made functional.
He also informed that an amount of Rs 40 million has been earmarked by district government to develop the infrastructure of Rani Bagh and another amount of Rs 20 million to be utilised to develop the Hussainabad Park, where installation of Chair Lift over the Indus River was also under consideration. Beside other 20 parks and playgrounds in all these talukas were being developed to facilitate the people for their entertainment. He said that in order to create healthy atmosphere for the youths, the district government Hyderabad was also promoting and encouraging sports activities as such one international hockey match was recently played at Latifabad while another International Indo-Pak Women Net-Ball match would be played on December 27, 2005 at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad.
