Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday said National Volunteers Movement (NVM) has been launched to capture the spirit of volunteerism generated throughout the country after the earthquake with a view to streamlining these sentiments.
He was addressing the first council meeting of the NVM here at Prime Minister House, which was held to review and finalise the strategy and plan of action of the movement.
The Prime Minister said the government would evolve legal institutional and fiscal framework of the organisation.
He said there should be focused and need-based efforts through this NVM for achieving best results and added that the immediate focus will be on health, education, shelter and trauma counselling. The Prime Minister said the NVM will be an umbrella organisation and work as a partner, facilitator and catalyst.
