Lahore police have arrested five members of Balochistan Liberation Army in connection with a string of deadly bomb blasts, which left 37 people dead, officials said on Wednesday.
The men seized belong to the BLA, who want an independent state in the province of Balochistan, senior police investigator Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmed told AFP.
"We have arrested five terrorists and recovered a huge quantity of explosives and other bomb-making materials from them. The terrorists are members of the Balochistan Liberation Army," he said.
"Jam Maqbool Baloch is the leader of this five-member group which had carried out nine blasts in which 37 people have been killed," Ahmed said.
The suspects were arrested in a series of raids in Lahore over the past week and police also seized 40 kilos of explosives, detonators, timers and remote controls, he added.
In one of the attacks the men are suspected over, seven people died when twin bicycle bombs exploded in Lahore. They are also wanted in connection with attacks on "sensitive installations" in Balochistan, he said.
Last month it denied involvement in a car bomb blast which killed three people outside an outlet of the US fast food chain KFC in the southern city of Karachi.
