Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Multan has criticised the government's decision of maintaining petroleum prices despite 30 percent decrease in the prices in the international market.
PML-N leaders Rana Mehmood-ul Hassan, MNA, Nafees Ansari, MPA, ex-Senator Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana, ex-MNA Haji Muhammad Boota, Moulvi Sultan Alam, Begum Shaheen Shafiq and Begum Shamshad Noorullah addressing a meeting here on Wednesday said the prices hike was only benefiting to the government in shape of taxes, which had been increased by 70 percent. As far as public is concerned, who were being betrayed by maintaining the high prices in the country, they added.
They said big fraud was being done with the public in the guise of oil companies advisory committee.
They said they were already raising the issue in provincial and national assemblies, as it had badly affected the country's economy and masses. They said that Pakistan was buying oil from Gulf countries at the rate of $52 to $53 per barrel but the government was quoting the prices of United States.
