US stocks gained on Thursday as a rebound in crude oil prices boosted shares of energy companies and an improved revenue forecast from wireless technology company Qualcomm Inc helped the Nasdaq.
Shares of Exxon Mobil Corp, the biggest publicly traded oil company, rose 0.7 percent to $59.42. The American Stock Exchange index of oil companies was up 1.2 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 19 points, or 0.18 percent, at 10,829.88. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 4.52 points, or 0.36 percent, at 1,261.89. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.19 points, or 0.32 percent, at 2,259.20.
