President General Pervez Musharraf's decision to open the local telecom sector for international players is paying off and has started bringing in big foreign investment in cash-starved Pakistan.

The private cellular brands have made heavy investments. With their latest technology they have registered over 23 million subscribers, including over 10 million of Mobilink GSM alone. All praise goes to the government's investor-friendly polices which have actually turned around our economic performance and opened employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled people in the country.
