The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (Comsats), with its focused efforts in the field of BioSciences, has held two workshops in Egypt. Comsats organised these events in close collaboration with its S&T Center of Excellence in Egypt, the National Research Center (NRC), Cairo.
Both the workshops 'Agro-Food Processing to Promote Sustainable Development' and 'Plant Biotechnology: A New Promise for Sustainable Development' that commenced yesterday concluded after highlighting the efforts being made at regional level in the fields of plant biotechnology and agro-food sciences.
The broad objectives of the workshop on Agro-Food Processing were 'to review the recent trends in food-processing technologies and to promote the means of sustainable small-scale food-processing businesses. On the other hand the workshop on plant biotechnology focused to create an atmosphere for exchanging latest information on plant biotechnology and to provide practical training on recent advances in this field.
