Various Christian organisations in the country have urged the government to take immediate action against the culprits involved in the mob violence and setting two churches, two missionary schools, residence of priest on fire at Sangla Hill and immediate release of Yousaf Masih who was falsely involved in blasphemy case.
These organisations include the National Commission for Justice and Peace; the Christian Study Centre, the Commission for Peace and Human Development; the Centre of the Legal Assistance and Settlement, the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, have demanded of the government to make public the findings of the judicial inquiry and set free all innocent persons, including Yousaf Masih who was clearly victimised due to his religion.
They also appealed to the government to make amendment in the Constitution of Pakistan against the discriminatory laws and articles towards the minorities.
In response to a question, National Commission for Justice and Peace Director Father Emmanuel Yousaf Mani said the people were misusing the discriminatory laws and articles against the minorities in the country and the Sangla Hill incident was one of such cases.
He made it clear that Sangla Hill incident was actually a dispute of two persons hailing from both Muslim and Christian communities.
