Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Secretary General of MMA, Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, has urged the government to build undisputed dams instead of Kalabagh Dam, at the initial stage.
Talking to newsmen after presiding over his party's provincial executive committee meeting here Monday, he said that Kalabagh Dam was not essential at this time and the government should opt for such dams, which were not controversial among the provinces.
Responding to newsmen's questions, he said that there was no forward block in the NWFP Assembly and added that that all such news reports in this regard were baseless.
To a question about participation in the parliamentary committee, Fazl ur Rehman said, "we would review the agenda of this body prior to giving our consent in this regard." Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz could not satisfy the opposition parties, which had made their reservations on the parliamentary committee on rehabilitation of earthquake victims, he added.
Answering to a question about MMA election, he said the Supreme Council of MMA would take a decision regarding election of its office bearers.
