NWFP Senior Minister and Provincial Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has said the JI is a party of the staunch followers of Islam who do not have lust for power but their basic aim is to revive universal welfare system of Shariah and serve the humanity devotedly.
He was addressing a mammoth public rally at the residence of Syed Zahir Shah, Tehsil President of ANP, at Alai on Monday. On this occasion Syed Zahir Shah along with activists of ANP, including Hisbullah Khan, Usman Azam, Moulana Samandar Shah, Mujarab Khan, Muhammad Aslam Khan, Nadir Khan, Nawab Khan, Muhammad Irshad Khan and hundreds of their supporters and family members resigned from the ANP and announced joining Jamaat-i-Islami.
They lauded valiant role of the central and provincial leadership of their new party for Sharia and development of the country as well as relief activities of Al Khidmat Foundation for earthquake survivors and hence assured whole-hearted co-operation in pursuing policies of the party in letter and spirit.
Sirajul Haq while welcoming the new-comers, said that his party believed in winning and ruling hearts of the people instead of thinking for profit and loss at political or governmental levels and that was why his party was gaining countrywide popularity.
He said that relief and rehabilitation activities for the quake survivors also aimed at fulfilling Islamic obligation of serving the masses and not to gain political mileage.
The senior minister directed the administration to ensure timely payment of compensation amounts to the affectees. Similarly, he asked the authorities to continue the process of survey of quake damages and registration of the genuine affectees with vigor and avoid any sort of lethargy in accomplishing this task.
He made clear that strict action would be taken on receiving any complaint about mismanagement or irregularities in relief and rehabilitation activities on part of government officials.
He also asked the people to bring in his notice directly of any complaint about malpractice in this regard, saying the provincial government would continue measures for permanent rehabilitation of the affectees and reconstruction work in the affected areas.
