Police has arrested one Muhammad Ashiq advocate in a fraud case outside the court room, as Supreme Court of Pakistan cancelled his bail.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) had earlier allowed bail to Muhammad Ashiq. The accused who had obtained power of attorney from a former Colonel Shah Sadiq got allotted his land in Defence Housing Authority measuring 96 Kanal by preparing fake documents. Colonel Sadiq had lodged FIR against Muhammad Ashiq.
The accused had approached the trial court for bail but his request was turned down. Later the accused approached the LHC and got relief. Colonel Sadiq approached the Supreme Court for cancellation of his bail. The apex court after hearing petitioner's counsel at length cancelled bail of the accused, who was b arrested outside the court room.
HEARING PUT OFF: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday adjourned till December 16, the proceedings in an appeal filed by former Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo challenging the decision of an accountability court convicting him on the charges of allotting a commercial plot to his favourite.
The court rose for the day when special prosecutor was still submitting his arguments.
SONIA NAZ CASE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to SP Khalid Abdullah and Police Inspector Jamshed Chishti in a petition filed by Sonia Naz praying for cancellation of their bail applications.
The petitioner contended that the respondents were involved in heinous crime of abducting and assaulting her criminally.
She submitted that the respondents secured their bails by concealing facts before the trial court. She said that the respondents were harassing and threatening her of dire consequences. The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel at length, issued notices to the respondents without fixing next date of hearing.
CONTEMPT PETITION: Senior Member Consolidation, Board of Revenue (BoR) has set aside the consolidation of land in village Langriyal of tehsil Kharian, when he found irregularities in consolidation made by revenue members. This was informed to the Lahore High Court during the course of proceedings in a contempt of court petition filed by one Nazir Ahmed praying to the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the respondent officials for ignoring the court orders.
The court, while disposing of the petition, directed the member Consolidation BoR to redress the grievance of the petitioner and other residents of the said village.
The court however, observed that the petitioner might approach the court again if he remained unsatisfied with the process of re-consolidation. The petitioner had approached the court through his counsel M.D Tahir against the respondent revenue officials for grabbing their land in the name of consolidation. The court had directed the respondent officials to act in accordance with the law and redress the grievance of the petitioner.
The respondent officials ignored the court orders, and the petitioner approached the court through contempt petition praying to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the respondent officials.
