Federal Secretary for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, Malik Asif Hayyat has said that rights of employee and employer would be given equal protection in the new 'Labour Inspection Policy' being devised at the federal level.
He was speaking at the fourth and last workshop arranged by the Ministry of Labour and Manpower in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) here on Thursday.
The Ministry of Labour had launched a consultative process on December 01 through a series of four workshops at Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi and Lahore to take in to confidence all the stakeholders for devising the new 'Labour Inspection Policy.'
Smeda assisted the Ministry of Labour in organising these workshops at provincial level to gain the views of government officials, employers and workers on the draft of this policy.
Recommendations given by the participants of all the four provincial workshops, together with other suggestions received from other interested parties would be taken in to account in preparing the final draft of the policy document.
The representative of WEBCOP, Mian Tajjamal Hussain, International Consultant on Labour Inspection Robert Haron, Social Security Advisor Mushtaq Hussain, Joint Secretary to Department of Labour Khalid Wattoo and National Consultant on Labour Inspection, Dr Aalia Khan attended the concluding session of the workshop.
