Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians on Saturday called for declaring the bye-election result of NA-210 null and void, and re-election be held under army and judiciary.
Addressing a news conference here, PPPP Secretary General Pervaiz Ashraf alleged that unprecedented rigging was committed in Kashmore, making the electoral process a mockery. The National Assembly seat had fallen vacant after Salim Jan Mazari, Pakitan Muslim League member, resigned and ran for nazim's slot.
Ashraf assailed Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Rahim, DIGP Sindh and advisor to chief minister for becoming party to the bye-election. The PPPP leader proposed that, if possible, the Chief Election Commissioner should himself, personally, visit Kashmore to monitor bye-poll afresh.
Imran Bijrani, who was PPPP candidate, complained that in the general election, he had bagged 46,000 votes whereas his opponent of ruling PML, Ghalib Domki, got 6,000 votes.
"It is mind-boggling that now PML candidate got 1,56,000 votes and my vote bank shrank to paltry 3,000 votes," Bijrani said. The PPPP candidate said that massive rigging in the bye-poll was tantamount to undermining the federation.
