Prices moved both ways on the commodity wholesale markets as rice, gram, plastic mouldings were mixed in changes more than once during the week ended on December 17, 2005. The commodities underwent changes were gram, cottoncakes, gram dal, yellow peas, beetle chana, 50x50, dal beetle, raw rubber, plastic mouldings etc.
On Monday a few changes were marked in cotton cakes up modestly by Rs 10 to Rs 450, the better type was up Rs 15 to Rs 465, guwar lost Rs 75 to Rs 1650 and better was quoted at Rs 1725.
JUTE GOODS SHOWED SOME CHANGES WHICH MOVED BOTH WAYS: jute goods 8x3 up 50 paisa to Rs 60.50, 40x2 Bawany brown down 50 paisa to Rs 34.50, Hessian cloth 45x8 United down Rs 25 to Rs 1375.
Elsewhere gram garda Punjab shed Rs 10 to Rs 1865 and better type quoted at Rs 1900, gram dal Punjab was up Rs 25 to Rs 2325 and better quoted atRs 2375, yellow peas Canada shed Rs 10 to Rs 1290 and better at Rs 1330, yellow peas dal lost Rs 25 to Rs 1440 and better quoted at Rs 1480, beetle chana I up Rs 25 to Rs 2050 and quoted better at Rs 2000, dal beetle 50x50 up Rs 25 to Rs 1950 and better at Rs 2000, dal beetle up Rs 25 to Rs 2350 and Rs 2400, bajra better type up Rs 50 to Rs 1550 and better type lost Rs 35 to Rs 1400, cotton cakes lost Rs 10 to Rs 440 while the better type stayed put.
On Wednesday raw rubber Ceylon RSSV down Re 1 to Rs 51, Latex Semnan tex up Rs 5 to Rs 344, and Thai (G) up Rs 5 to Rs 344. Elsewhere on the grain market were seen unchanged.
On Thursday Kirana items such as white pepper down Rs 200 to Rs 6,800 black pepper up Rs 50 to Rs 4,200, mace down Rs 600 to Rs 21,400 big cardamom down Rs 100 to Rs 7,900 dry ginger down Rs 1200 to Rs 6800, Saunf up Rs 200 to Rs 3400, aniseed down Rs 500 to Rs 5,500, cuminseed down Rs 200 to Rs 3650, and darchini down Rs 50 to Rs 2250, cotton cakes lost Rs 40 to Rs 400 and better type put at Rs 465.
ON FRIDAY PLASTIC MOULDINGS WAS MIXED: HDPE film Saudia 952 down 25 paisa to Rs 37.75, Mobil down 25 paisa to Rs 37.25 HDPE injection Luck down Re 1 to Rs 36.50, HDPE Kuwait down Rs 3 to Rs 37, Marlex down 50 paisa to Rs 37.50, Iran up 50 paisa to Rs 37, Polypropylene film Thai down Rs 1.50 to Rs 42.50, Kuwait down Rs 1.50 to Rs 42.50, India down same amount to Rs 42.50, tape grade India down 50 paisa to Rs 42.50 Kuwait down 50 paisa to Rs 42.50, Saudia down 50 paisa to Rs 42.50, injection grade Saudia down 50 paisa to Rs 41.50, India down 50 paisa to Rs 41.50 and Kuwait down 25 paisa to Rs 41.25, elsewhere Juwar up Rs 25 to Rs 950, better up Rs 50 to Rs 1000, and Urad Burma was quoted at Rs 1210 and Rs 1250. On Saturday, not a single change was seen on the grain market on strong position, dealers said.
Firmness prevailed in the grain market on Saturday as supply side was strong, which helped the buyers to remain on the sidelines, dealers said.
Seed prices moved slightly but managed to regain their overnight levels.
