Protection of minorities rights is the utmost priority of present government, said Mohammad Ijaz-ul-Haq, Federal Minister for Religious and Minorities Affairs here on Sunday.
He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Sui Gas Supply Project to J. Salik (Minorities) Colony.
Former Minister for Minorities, S.K. Tressler and representatives of various civil societies and minorities were also present on the occasion. The minister said the government has always endeavoured to resolve the problems of minorities at their doorstep.
Pakistan Muslim League would arrange a significant programme at PML House to celebrate Christmas Day to express solidarity with minorities, the minister said.
The minister hailed the efforts and role of minorities during quake relief operation and said it was need of the hour to help quake survives regardless of sect and religion.
Condemning the incident of Sangila Hill, he said it was ever worst act and assured that the culprits would be taken to task.
"Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance and we should spread message of love and brotherhood" he added.
He urged upon the people to forge unity for the development and prosperity of country.
Earlier, the representatives of minorities appreciated the present efforts and policies of the government.
