China just sent two astronauts on a mission to the country?s newest space station in the aims of establishing herself as a space super-power.
The astronauts are to carry out experiments to elongate the survival of humans in space. This mission also aims to break China?s existing record time in space by having it orbit the earth for 30 days.
It was earlier this morning that two astronauts were sent off into space on board the ?Shenzhou 11? spacecraft off a launching station in Jiuquan, northern China. This will mark the first instance where humans will be boarding on to the Tiangong 2 space station, which too was launched last month.
China also has plans to launch the first module of its biggest space station ever in 2018 and the project is said to be completed by 2022. The two astronauts on board the Shenzhou 11, will be the first ? of many to come ? to grow plants in space amongst other objectives like that of growing food and recycling air and human waste during long space missions.
