A mammoth sized jade stone weighing approximately 175 tons has just been unearthed by miners in Myanmar.
The stone – rather rock? – is 14ft high and is 19ft long; and according to reports it is worth an estimated value of $170m.
It was during a routine mining in the jade-producing state of Kachin, which lies in the northern side of the country that it was discovered. Myanmar more commonly known as Burma, is the main source of virtually all of the world’s finest jadeites and its industry makes up nearly half of the country’s total GDP.
