Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) secretary-general Aqeel A. Al-Jassem advised the business community to attract investors from Muslim countries for investment in Pakistan.
Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Tuesday, he said Pakistan offers best investment policies and it can attract huge investment from Muslim brothers with little efforts.
Mohammed Abdullah Amir Al-Falasi, UAE consul general; Dr Hassan Abdul Rashid Al-Attar, consul general of Saudi Arabia; Naser Saif Salim, consul general of Oman; Rashid Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al-Naimi, consul general of Qatar; Jamil Abdul Wahab Abdul Salam, consul general of Bahrain; and Hassan Bader A-Oqab, consul general of Kuwait were also present on the occasion.
He appreciated the Gwadar project and said possibilities exist of setting up refinery at Gwadar. He emphasised the need of upgrading tourism facilities in Pakistan to attract tourists from the world.
He pointed out few years ago, he visited Saiful Malook and added there was no proper facility of hotels and other facilities. This sector has potential for investment, he added.
Regarding visa, he said all Muslim countries issue visas to their Pakistani brothers on complete documents in a few days. He said verification of documents take some time and it is a must because of security reasons.
Regarding issuance of business visa on the recommendation of KATI, he said consulates will welcome recommendation letters of the association with attested documents for visa. He pointed out Saudi Arabia issuing 2000 visas per day.
Welcoming guests, KATI chairman Gulzar Feroz said: "We should put our energies to improve our export to your countries as you are well aware that Pakistan is an agro-based country and our products like rice, wheat, vegetables, fruits, tobacco and raw cotton would be very attractive for your markets."
