Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said the stable economic policies of the government have expedited the pace of economic development, opening tremendous opportunities for foreign investors in Pakistan.
He was talking to ambassador of the Republic of Korea Kim Jooseok, who called on him at the Parliament House on Tuesday.
Amir Hussain said Pakistan and Korea were bonded in strong cultural and economic relations and share their perceptions on global issues besides having common desire for peace and stability in the region as well as in the world.
The NA Speaker informed the ambassador that there are vast opportunities of co-operation between the two countries in all fields of the economy.
He was of the view that the visit of President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the recent past has further strengthened the political and economic ties between the two countries.
Amir Hussain said the exchange of delegations of the parliamentarians of the two countries would bring the people and the governments of the two countries further closer to each other. He also underlined the need for enhancement of Korean investment in Pakistan.
Apprising the ambassador about the initiative of President Musharraf for establishing peace in the region, the Speaker said, "Pakistan believes in peaceful resolution of all disputes in the region, including the core issue of Kashmir." He also appreciated the assistance and support of the government and the people of the Republic of Korea for the affectees of the earthquake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and NWFP.
Speaking on the occasion, Kim Jooseok appreciated the smooth working of democratic institutions in Pakistan and its economic achievements in the past six years.
He appreciated the role of the Pakistani community in the development and progress of the Korean economy. The ambassador said that the Korean investment in Pakistan was happy sign that would further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
