The strike of lawyers' community in Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang and Shorkot against the Jhang DCO has entered in the second week here on Friday.
Jhang MPAs, headed by Najaf Sial, had filed an application against DCO Arif Khan in the office of the chief secretary but after a few days the issue was scrapped.
Arif Khan allegedly had sold a piece of land donated by a philanthropist for the Chenab College. The Jhang District Nazim during his last tenure had admitted before the media that he was unable to check the DCO's corruption, as he did not have enough powers to do so.
Talking to this scribe, the District Nazim Jhang said that he would not allow the DCO to stay in the district for a minute but he needed documentary proofs to do so. In the meantime, the DBA Jhang has taken up the issue and vowed to observe the strike till the DCO was transferred. The DBA Jhang took out a peaceful rally, which marched on the city roads to get their protest registered.
Earlier on Thursday, the District Nazim met the representatives of the DBA. Many lawyers said if the District Nazim did not forward their complaints against the DCO to higher authorities they would consider the Nazim as a partner in the crime.
When contacted, the DCO refused to talk. The Nazim said that he would not back the DCO.
