NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman has said that the construction of Kalabagh Dam is a project of national importance and the people of NWFP as a whole are in its favour.
Talking to a group of senior journalists and column writers at Governor House here on Thursday, the governor said, in fact in this province only a certain circle is opposing the project, which has made it a political issue. Indeed, the governor said, the people of the province are politically aware and quite well verse about the future losses and benefits to be accrued from the project. This reality, Khalil-ur-Rehman said, has been proved by the people of the province themselves in the past as well and even today they fully support the efforts of President General Pervez Musharraf with regard towards materialisation of the project.
Responding to a point the governor said that the President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are making sincere struggle to implement this long-standing project.
