Arrangements were being made in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under contingency programme to accommodate 40,000 quake victims in low lying areas who may come down from high altitude locations due to harsh winter conditions.
This was stated by Relief Commissioner AJK, Khawaja Saleem Bismil, while speaking in a PTV programme on Saturday.
He said along with installation of winterised tents, provision of other living facilities including water and electricity is also being ensured on the sites selected for the purpose.
The government organisations along with Pakistan Army and NGOs are busy in the installation of tent villages below the height of 5,000 feet where weather conditions normally remain bearable, he said.
To a question he said, besides schooling in the tent villages arrangements have also been made to provide recreation facilities to children. He said rehabilitation of victims would take some time but things will be back on normal track soon.
Purchasing power of the affected people is gradually being restored and the business activities have taken a new start in quake hit areas, he added.
