The government has decided to issue nearly 8,000 visas to the Indian spectators for the forthcoming Pak-India cricket series starting from 13th January 2005, official sources told Business Recorder here on Monday.
A meeting was held in the interior ministry under the chairmanship of Syed Kamal Shah which devised a workable and practical mechanism for the grant of visas to Indian nationals interested to witness cricket matches in Pakistan.
Sources said that for the test matches, visa duration would be eight days and for the ODI matches visa would be of three days for specific city whereas all visas would be ticket specific.
They said that Indian cricket fans should fill each column of visa application forms giving their full particulars, as incomplete applications would not be entertained by the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi.
They said all tickets to Pakistanis and Indian spectators will be sold by PCB through Internet www.cricketlnfo.com.
According to the procedure, Indian visitors will present printouts of their tickets to the Pakistan Missions abroad who will issue them a visa based on the Internet print out regarding purchase of the ticket. Indian visitors will be briefed by the High Commission to pick up their actual entry tickets on the basis of Internet print out.
Sources said that all visa applications for journalists, broadcasters, advertising agents, cameramen, etc will be routed through PCB who will send the visa requests to the ministry of interior at least ten days before the match.
The meeting decided that the spectators would not be allowed to carry any prohibited items into the ground, printed on the back of the entry tickets.
