Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sallahuddin Qadir Chaudhery, has advised Pakistan business community to resist anti-dumping duty imposed on Pakistani products.
Addressing members of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (Aptpma) on Tuesday, he said that Bangladesh business community and the government would fully support Pakistan on this issue.
He said that Bangladesh Prime Minister has good relations with President of Pakistan.
He invited Pakistan textile exporters to help Bangladesh to improve its textiles processing sector. He also invited Pakistani business community to establish textiles processing units in joint ventures in Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh was making efforts to improve its value-added sector, and added that at present Bangladesh was making 20 percent value-addition.
The BD Prime Minister's advisor said that Pakistan has raw cotton and expertise in this sector that can help Bangladesh in a big way.
He noted that China was dominating in textile sector, and added that Pakistan and Bangladesh have to pay more attention to this sector by improving the quality of fabrics and readymade garments.
He said that Pakistan and Bangladesh have close political and trade relations.
Welcoming the guests, Aptpma chairman Dr Arshad A Vohra emphasised the need of increasing two-way trade.
He said that both countries enjoy best trade and political relations but the volume of trade is still very meagre.
