There is a high probability of the 1426 Zilhij Crescent being sighted in Pakistan on the evening of Sunday January 01, 2006, as also in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, North and South America.
Since at sunset on December 31, the age of the crescent moon would be only 10 hours, it would not be sightable on December 31 anywhere in Pakistan, but would be visible in South and Central America.
Considering the available data on the 1142 Hijra Zilhij Crescent as found in the Almanac, the above forecast is issued on behalf of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.
