Joint opposition has alleged that district Naib Nazim and town Naib Nazims elections were rigged, while the slot of district Naib Nazim was sold for Rs 50 million.
These allegations were made during a joint press conference addressed by PML-N General Secretary Punjab Zaeem Qadri, JI Lahore Amir Hafiz Salman Butt, PPP Lahore President Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, joint opposition's candidate for district Naib Nazim Akbar Khan, PML-N MNAs Pervaiz Malik and Khawaja Saad Rafique, PML-N Lahore President Mian Marghoob Ahmad and General Secretary Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman.
They rejected the election results and accused Lahore district Nazim Mian Amer of harassing the candidates of the Jamhoori Group with the help of underworld mafia and police. They said that the rulers used brutal tactics to force UC Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors to vote government-backed candidates. They also offered Rs 300,000 to 500,000 to the opposition UC Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors to gain their votes, they alleged.
They announced a three-member committee comprising Zafar Masood Bhatti, Akbar Khan and Zahid Ali Shah to initiate inquiry against the party's UC Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors who voted for the government backed candidates. The committee would submit the report within three days and the violators would face the action.
