The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to facilitate exporters utilising Export Promotion Bureau's (EPB) Warehousing Scheme in Kenya. According to a statement issued by the SBP on Wednesday, this decision had been taken to encourage the said scheme to be launched by EPB soon.
The scheme would allow exporters enhancement in the period for repartition of export proceeds from existing 180 days to 270 days. The exporters would also be allowed to reduce prices on the unsold stock.
General permission would be granted up to a discount of 15 percent, if the goods were not sold. SBP's approval would be required above this limit on a case to case basis. Present retention percentage of 10 percent of FOB value of goods realised in terms of para 32 (III) of FE Manual would be enhanced to 25 percent in case of export through the Warehousing Scheme.
The SBP has advised the authorised dealers to inform their constituents about the new facilitation.
