The proposed rise in gas prices has come in for severe criticism from different groups of consumers in the country, reports UPP correspondent. The Chambers of Commerce and Industries all over the country have protested against the gas prices proposed increase and maintained that it will effect the industrial growth very adversely.
The household consumers have also protested against the increase and maintained that it will only add a new burden on their tightrope budget. The gas companies, however, maintain that the increase in gas prices is necessary for them to carry on business properly and without loss. Gas companies had claimed while seeking increase in gas prices that the gas prices had to be increased so that they could meet their operational deficit.
The consumers who have taken to gas as a fuel, feel cornered, reports UPP correspondent. They maintain that government must give consumers guarantee that the gas prices would not be increased for the next two years.
