At least 24 persons were killed and one received critical wounds when an avalanche fell on them in the upper mountainous area at Sput Mali in the jurisdiction of Jalakot police station.
According to reports received here on Thursday from district Kohistan, these people were going to Sput Mali the other day to dig out precious stones and explore mines when the mishap occurred.
The deceased were identified as Muhammad Salim, Shakoor, Abdul Qayyum, Muhammad Wakeel, Muhammad Azeem, Yasin, Abdur Rahim, Jahangir, Abdur Rehman Sahil, Muhammad Anwar, Malang, Suleman, Sonia, Mian Suon, Gul Badshah, Fazal Muhammad, Abdul Ghani, Qari Nowsherwan, Kifayatullah and Muhammad Qayyum. All the deceased belonged to district Kohistan.
