Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the government will provide all resources to make defence of the country impregnable so that no one can cast an evil eye on the fatherland.
He was addressing a function held to observe the 99th anniversary of the Muslim League at PML Central Secretariat here on Friday evening. The function was attended by Muslim Leaguers from all over the country.
The Prime Minister said that Allah Almighty has blessed Pakistan with tremendous resources. "We can harness these resources and make the country prosperous only by acting upon the motto of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, 'Unity, Faith, Discipline'," he added.
He said that "our forefathers had launched a magnificent freedom struggle, and under the dynamic leadership of the Quaid-e-Azam it made tremendous sacrifices to achieve this country. "Now it is for us to achieve the objectives of the creation of an independent homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent," he added.
Shaukat paid tributes to the people of Pakistan for rising to the occasion to overcome the aftermath of October 8 devastating earthquake and said that this spirit of oneness, brotherhood, sacrifice and care for others should continue to make Pakistan an honoured and respectable member of the international community.
He said that during past six years, under the leadership of President General Pervez Musharraf, the government has achieved the economic sovereignty, and overcome most of its short-term economic woes. "We have put the country on the fast track economic recovery and made progress in all fields for which we need unity and discipline," he added.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue to support the just struggle of the Kashmiri people who have made tremendous sacrifices for achievement of their birthright. "We will not allow these sacrifices to go waste, and will stand by them in thick and thin," he declared.
He congratulated the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan and Engineer Amir Moqam, President of Pakistan Muslim League NWFP over winning the recently held local bodies elections, and said that Muslim League had emerged stronger and a united party under the leadership of Shujaat Hussain.
He said that the party would be re-organised next year so that it could win the 2007 general elections with thumping majority .
Earlier, addressing party members, Shujat Hussain said: "During the centenary celebrations of the party we will hold a large number of functions in which Kashmiri leaders will also be invited to pay tributes to the founding fathers of Muslim League."
President of PML Sindh and Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Party Secretary General Mushahid Hussain also addressed the party members They said that PML was the most popular party of the country and there was complete unity and harmony between the government and the party.
