Belgian group Belgacom said on Monday a rival broadcaster has contested a decision by regulators to let it broadcast certain football programmes and offer video on demand in the country's French-speaking region.
Communications group Belgacom, which has more than 20,000 TV customers in Belgium, confirmed a report in local financial daily De Tijd which said Wallonian operator BeTV has lodged an appeal against the decision with the Brussels commercial court.
It said BeTV wants the decision overturned on the grounds that Belgacom, which is offering the services through its subsidiary Sky iMotion Activities, is controlled by the state and should therefore, under Belgian law, not have been granted such broadcast rights.
