India's state-run copper producer, Hindustan Copper Ltd, has raised the provisional price of copper cathodes for January delivery by 5 percent, a company official said on Monday.
The company increased the provisional pre-tax price of copper cathodes sold in the domestic market to 234,400 rupees ($5,200) a tonne for January, compared with 223,400 rupees a tonne for December.
Indian copper firms set a provisional domestic price at the beginning of every month and settle the final price against the average London Metal Exchange (LME) price.
Copper buyers paid Hindustan Copper a final price of 246,766 rupees per tonne for December, the official said.
Shares in Hindustan Copper were down 1.8 percent at 60.10 rupees in a slightly stronger Mumbai market.
ZINC, LEAD PRICES India's top zinc producer, Hindustan Zinc Ltd, has raised zinc prices by 1,300 rupees per tonne ($29) with immediate effect, a company official said on Monday.
The firm also cut lead prices by 1,000 rupees per tonne to 61,000 per tonne, he said.
"High grade zinc prices have been raised to 107,100 rupees per tonne from a fortnight ago," said the official, who did not wish to be named.
Shares in Hindustan Zinc, which is part of London-listed Vedanta Resources Plc, were up 0.6 percent at 246.70 rupees in a firm Mumbai market.
