Pakistan on Tuesday sought Austrian co-operation to establish an engineering university with 10 years services of its academics to make it a world class institute.
This desire was vented by the Chairman Higher Education Commission, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman in a meeting with a six member Austrian delegation, led by its Minister for Science and Education, Elizabeth Gehrer, who called on him here.
Government is keenly interested in Austrian co-operation in developing a world level engineering university in Pakistan, said the advisor to the Prime Minister proposing to engage their academics for up to 10 years to develop its plan and bring it at par with the world class engineering and technology universities.
The Austrian experts, he said should be available as senior faculty members in the proposed university for up to ten years to develop and fulfil the academic requirements required to bring the international repute to the institution.
He apprised the delegation about the initiatives so far taken by the HEC for the promotion of higher education as it was said to be agreed to initiate a major post-doctoral training programme as well as linkage programme between the different university departments of Austria and Pakistan.
