Handing over the United States' 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (Mash) to Pakistan Army here on Thursday, American Ambassador Ryan C Crocker said the relief work in the quake-hit areas of Kashmir and NWFP had further strengthened Pak-US friendship.
The Ambassador, speaking at the ceremony, said the US was 'proud' to hand over the hospital to Pakistani control. He said the relief efforts were continuing but the focus was now shifting to the recovery and reconstruction.
The ceremony was attended among others by Surgeon General of Pakistan Lieutenant General Syed Afzal Ahmed, General Officer Commanding Major General Khalid Nawaz, Major General Abdul Malik, Secretary Health AJK, Major General Abdul Qadir Usmani of Army Medical Corps, US Naval Commander Rear Admiral Michael Lefeever, head of political section in the US embassy Ms Theresa Grencik and other senior civil and military officials of both the countries.
