The Board of Directors of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) on Tuesday approved Rs 3,876 million budget of the company for the current fiscal year in a special meeting chaired by its Chairman Jamshed Savul.
Pesco Chief Executive Brigadier Sakhi Marjan presented the budget of the company in the 32nd Board of Directors meeting. The budget shows an increase of 21 percent as compared to the last financial year.
Rise in the salary bill, increase in bank's collection charges, maintenance and look after of the system augmentation, new grid stations and installation of high power transformers were the major factors in enhancing the budget outlay.
The Board of Directors after comprehensive discussion gave approval to the budget, besides giving accent to a number of technical and managerial matters.
The Pesco chief executive informed the meeting that the company would construct 18 new grid stations in the province under sixth STG programme in the next five years with the financial assistance of the World Bank.
He said that completion of these mega projects in NWFP would not only help in redressing complaints and problems regarding electricity of the people, but more villages would also be electrified.
Dr Mir Hatim, Ahmed Nawaz Mughal, Chaudhry Abdul Qadeer, Ghulam Hussain Kulachi, Members and Customer Services Chief Engineer Iqbal Ali Shah attended the meeting.
