Britain issued over 8,500 students visas last year. This was stated by the British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Hamish St. Clair Daniel. Talking to APP here, he said that the issuance of students visas depends on the number of people who apply for this.
"There is no quota", the diplomat further pointed out adding that if the people got the educational qualifications, the confirmed places in Britain and also the financial resources to pay for the education.
In such cases, he assured, the visas would be issued without any delay. "We welcome the applications", the British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi further remarked. He said that the new building of the British Council in Karachi has almost been completed and that it will be opened towards the end of April this year.
The Deputy Director of British Council Karachi, Ms Samina R. Khan, said that the new building has been constructed at a cost approximately one million pound.
She stated that the new premises of the British Council Karachi will start operating from April 30. However, it will not be having the facility of the library as had been the case in the past.
Samina said that the British Council will continue to work without public access.
The old premises at the Bleak House have been disposed of, she further stated.
