The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) through a notification has doubled the salary package of 'private members', upgrading them in MP-I scale from March 1, 2006.
Official sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday that the compensation package of Member, Taxpayer Education and Facilitation, Habib Fakhruddin; Member, Fiscal Research and Statistics, Dr Ather Maqsood; and Member, Information Management System (IMS) Amir Z A Chaudhry has been upgraded from MP-II to MP-I.
The new Member, Audit, would also be given MP-I scale on appointment. However, recently Member Human Resource Management (HRM), on appointment has already been given this lucrative pay package.
They said that the government has decided to issue fresh contracts to these private Members for a term of two years. The tax officials are satisfied with the performance of Member Taxpayer Education and Facilitation; Member Fiscal Research and Statistics and Member IMS, sources added.
