City Nazim Syed Mustafa has said that obsolete water and sewerage system was not only causing hardships to people of Karachi but also a big hurdle in development works.
Because of these reasons, the city government has kept improving water and sewerage system on top in its priority list, he stated while addressing members of Sindh Bar Association on Wednesday.
Kamal pointed out that there was large-scale corruption in garbage lifting system, which led to its privatisation.
He told the gathering that process of erecting attractive hoardings would start within one and half months after its computerisation.
The Nazim stated: "I view all parts and segments of the city as equal as far as problems are concerned and take it as a mission to resolve these problems."
It is our policy, Kamal said, to give equal attention to problems whether they be in Liaquatabad and North Nazimabad Towns or in Lyari, Gadap or Bin Qasim Towns.
Speaking to consultants, contractors and people while inspecting Azizabad and Liaquatabad Underpasses on Tuesday night, the Nazim stressed for construction of flyovers in accordance with the international technical standards.
He also emphasised the need for provision of emergency exits in the underpasses to avoid any untoward incident.
Kamal directed Karachi DCO to review these projects for removing the technical flaws and also issued instructions for submission of report in this respect in next 24 hours.He also asked consultants and contractors to make use of their engineering expertise to benefit citizens.
