The Karachi Export Processing Zone Business Council has demanded of the government to stop discriminatory policy against the EPZ industrial units.
KEPZBC Convener Muhammad Younus Shaikh, in a press release issued here on Thursday, said that the CBR had imposed conditions on the investors of EPZ under SRO 461(1)/2004 to export only up to 20 percent of their production to Tariff Area, while 80 percent was required to be exported to foreign countries.
On the other hand, he said, the CBR had exempted an industrial unit from the provision of this SRO.
He termed that favouring only one unit at the cost of other units of EPZ is unjustified.
He sought intervention of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to ask CBR to desist from following a discriminatory policy against the EPZ industrial units.-PR
