Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) inaugurating the Second International 'Book Fair' here on Thursday said that contemporary scholars must stand up to the changes and challenges of modern time.
Talking to journalists about on going protest on blasphemy, he said it was a right of every one to protest, but this agitation has to be within limits where properties and life were not endangered, he pointed. Maqbool talking about contribution of Muslims in literature, said western nations had benefited much from that.
He showed his delight on the fact that habit of reading was picking up here. He said canvas of literature had to be expanded.
Khalid Maqbool stressed upon the need of opening dialogue on all issues erupting in the society. He told that $30 billion worth books were published in the US each year. Senior journalist Najam Seethi thanked Punjab Governor for his help in holding of mega book show in the city.
