A 28-member delegation of the District Management probationers from Civil Services Academy visited the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) head office here on Thursday to have an organisational and functional view of the body.
Shahab Khawaja, chief executive officer of Smeda welcomed the delegation and responded to a number of questions raised by the young public sector managers about Smeda's contribution to the development of SME sector. Muhammad Jamil Afaqi, General Manager Policy Planning wing of Smeda gave a presentation on the work done by Smeda so far for uplift the SMEs in Pakistan on this occasion.
Shahab Khawaja said that Smeda, unlike other government departments, was a non-peon and non-bureaucratic body. He claimed that the human resources for the organisation had been hired from the private sector purely on professional criteria.
The delegation declared that Smeda was an unconventional government organisation having excellent human resource with a solid commitment to work as a think tank for development of the small and medium enterprises in the country at par with international standards.
