Economic and trade relations have attained the central place in world politics and countries have diverted all their efforts to enhance trade with other nations, said Lieutenant General Khateer Hassan Khan (Retd), ambassador-designate to Thailand here on Thursday.
"World is moving around the economy and it is imperative for nations to attain economic stability," he said while addressing members of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
Speaking on the occasion, RCCI president Jalil Ahmed Malik said: "South Asian region is becoming the central point of economic activities of the world, the world community is looking towards this region's market."
"We are confronting with the challenges like WTO and Safta regimes and it is imperative on part of the industrial sector to work together to get a good place for Pakistani products," he added.
Malik said: "Proposals for forming joint ventures in tourism, food processing, computers software, fisheries and sea food processing, ship building, and household appliances are also under active consideration at an appropriate level of the Board of Investment and Thai Trade Representative."
Earlier, RCCI president Jalil Ahmed Malik briefed the envoy-designate to Thailand on trade and economic activities in the region.
