The Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec) is holding a daylong workshop on 'Digital Manufacturing in Pakistan' at its auditorium here on Saturday (March 11).
According to a spokesman of Tusdec, the objective of the workshop is to assess training needs in the field of computer-aided designing and manufacturing (Cad/Cam) to help produce exportable commodities in line with the trends in the international market.
Major speakers at the workshop include Millat Tractors Pakistan Chairman Sikandar M Khan, Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD) Principal Hina Tayyaba, Tools, Dies and Moulds Centre Karachi Chairman Munir K Bana, a representative of Japan International Co-operation Agency (Jica) and others.
The industrialists from engineering, textiles, ceramics and electronics will participate in the workshop in addition to a number of architects.
The spokesman said the Tusdec had launched a number of initiatives to help produce manpower with the skills in computer-aided designing and manufacturing. To achieve this objective, eight Cad/Cam centers are being set up in various industrial towns of the country under the directives of the Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Jehangir Khan Tareen.
Of these, the Cad/Cam Center in Lahore, given the name of National Institute of Design and Analysis (Nida) will also act as 'train the trainers facility' for other Cad/Cam Centres in Pakistan.
