People from different religions have their own values and importance. How respectable a Prophet is, in the religion or you can say in the world, is not only related to the followers of the Prophet, either of Muslims or anyone else.
It is a respectable personality as in every religion Prophet means an interpreter of the will of God. He is the one through which the blessings of God are sent in different ages for the betterment of human being and they conveyed only the message of God.
In this age, humans should try to make the world an international platform where every one should have a freedom of religion. How it will work when people will start making fun of a messenger of God. This shows that he is not willing to obey the will of God who is doing it. Freedom to write anything, even to publish it internationally, doesn't mean that the contents will not be checked even if the contents may hurt someone, not only a single person but the whole Muslim community around the world. In short the gap between Islam and the West is increasing after publication of the cartoon.
However, violence is also not good thing and is against the teaching of Islam. It is giving Islam a bad name and is also against the teachings of Islam. The best solution is that we should try to follow the great teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
